After Android 17 pierces Dr. Gero's chest and severs his head, he crushes the still-talking head underfoot. This is separate from Dr. Gero's death in the future.

Piccolo speculates that it would not be surprising if the wish to revive those killed by Cell had brought Android 17 back as well. Android 17 is later confirmed to be active, but this explanation alone does not establish whether or when a death and revival occurred. Absorption is not equated with death, and no confirmed death or revival record is added.
